Capel Dental Care in Carmarthen has informed patients of its difficult decision to cease providing NHS services as of 31st October 2025.
Despite determined efforts the practice has been unable to recruit clinicians to provide NHS treatments as a result of the nationwide shortage of dentists undertaking NHS work.
The British Dental Association (BDA) Cymru has warned that if rising costs are not matched with updated funding and new models of care, it will make many practices economically unsustainable.
Capel Dental Care has apologised to patients for the inconvenience it may cause. The practice aims to complete open courses of treatments, until 31st October 2025, and will remain available to NHS patients for emergency appointments up until this date.
Patients of Capel Dental Care have been invited to remain with the practice on a private basis and have the option to join a patient plan and can discuss the options available with the practice team.
Those patients affected who wish to seek a new dental practice which is accepting NHS patients have been provided with all necessary information.
Capel Dental Care remains committed to continuing to offer a high standard of dental care and service to its patients. For further media enquiries please email [email protected]
